About this game
Two paddles, one ball, and her behind the net. Every point you take pulls the cover down a band; every point she takes pushes it back up, so a lead is something to protect rather than a number to reach. Played up and down rather than across, because a phone is tall and a thumb moves sideways: your paddle sits under your hand and the whole board is above it. Where the ball strikes the paddle decides where it goes — a return off the tip is wide, off the middle is straight and fast — so a return is an aim rather than a reflex. Rallies charge Heat, and a point won after a long exchange is worth several taken off a serve, which makes returning a hard ball better than hoping she misses. She gets quicker every phase, by one number: how much of the gap she closes each second. Eight sequences drawn at random each game. One thumb, a couple of minutes, nothing to install.
